Joshua Roman is a cello soloist and composer, hailed for his "effortlessly expressive tone...and playful zest for exploration" (The New York Times), as well as his "extraordinary technical and musical gifts" and "blend of precision and almost improvisatory freedom...that goes straight to the heart" (The San Francisco Chronicle). His genre-bending programs and wide-ranging collaborations have grown out of an "enthusiasm for musical evolution that is as contagious as his love for the classics" (The Seattle Times).
Committed to bringing classical music to new audiences, Roman opened the acclaimed 2017 TED Conference - and his performance of the complete Bach Cello Suites after the 2016 U.S. presidential election was the most-viewed event in the history of TED's social channels, with nearly a million live viewers. Roman has collaborated with world-class artists across genres and disciplines, including Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer, DJ Spooky, Tony-winner/MacArthur Genius Bill T. Jones, GRAMMY-winning East African vocalist Somi, and Tony-nominated actor Anna Deavere Smith.

We can all use a good laugh, and this split-bill delivers. Carla Ulbrich brings her offbeat perspective and sharply observed humor, pairing original songs with parodies that take aim at life’s everyday absurdities. Mike Agranoff adds his own mix of wit and deep musical knowledge, drawing from folk traditions, unexpected finds, and the occasional delightfully over-the-top parody. Together, they create a night that balances humor, storytelling, and strong musicianship—an experience that fits right at home in the intimate listening room at Godfrey Daniels.

For over 50 years, Nektar has defined the immersive concert experience. Formed in Hamburg in 1969, Nektar pioneered the “Sound and Light Theatre” with a run of masterpieces: “Journey to the Centre of the Eye” (1971), “A Tab in the Ocean” (1972), the U.S. Top 20 hit “Remember the Future” (1973), the gold-selling “Down to Earth” (1974), and “Recycled” (1975). These works established Nektar as a global force in progressive rock.
Nektar is a total immersion of the senses. Under the direction of Jay Petsko, the band’s signature visual production has evolved into a modern, reactive experience. As the band drives the music forward with its signature power and precision, Petsko’s projections move in sync with the performance. It is a living, sonic landscape where the audience doesn’t just hear the music; they experience it.
“Pat Byrne lives in Austin and traffics in the kind of earnest roots rock championed by artists like Shakey Graves. His voice and songwriting chops show the reason he’s attracted a lot of attention. Look for a big second act from this artist.” – Tom Thornton, Riff Magazine
Pat Byrne’s journey from Ireland to Austin, Texas has shaped a sound that bridges tradition and modern Americana with clarity and confidence. After making waves at major festivals like SXSW and Kerrville, Byrne continues to build momentum with songs that carry both grit and reflection. His latest work leans into a more expansive, roots-driven style, pairing a textured voice with songwriting that feels both grounded and current. At Godfrey Daniels, audiences can expect a close-up experience of an artist whose music connects across borders in a true Live Music Listening Room setting.
